Join your merry friends at the Hawaii Bicycling League this holiday season as we get decked out and jolly for these upcoming holiday parades! Bikers are expected to bring their own working-bikes and helmets. (Please note that trikes are reserved for those 50 years and better, as part of our Senior Cycling Program.)
* Waikīkī Holiday Parade - Nov. 25, 2016 (Fri)
The parade runs from 7-9pm and goes from Fort DeRussy Park to Kapi'olani Park, along Kalākaua Avenue. Staging will start at 6pm at the post office on Saratoga Avenue (we'll have some garlands and stuff but if you have your own decorations for your bike please bring them!). The event is expected to have 4,000 marchers, 40 vehicles, & 38 bands! For more information, visit their website: www.musicfestivals.com.
* Electric Light Parade - Dec. 3, 2016 (Sat)
This parade is put on by the Friends of Honolulu City Lights, and we are excited to be accepted in with the Department of Transportation Services contingent this year! The parade starts at A'ala Park and goes down S. King Street, ending in front of Honolulu Hale. The parade runs from around 6-6:30pm, but Honolulu City Lights Opening Night Festivities will be going on from 4-11pm! You can check out their schedule at: www.honolulucitylights.org/blogs/opening-night/14572199-2016-opening-night. We'll meet to decorate our rides at 4pm at the Fasi Municipal Building, then ride to the start on River Street, between N. King Street & Hotel Street.
