Volunteers are needed on Thursday, June 7, to decorate “mini-floats” for the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade (June 9). The work party will begin at 8 am in a warehouse SE Portland (you will need to provide your own transportation). You can either volunteer to work at 4-hour shift (8 am – 12 noon) or and 8-hour shift (8 am – 4 pm). Mini-floats are built on top of a small trailer or golf cart. You do not need to be on scaffolding or ladders to decorate them. Organic materials, like flowers, seeds and rice, are used to decorate the floats. A lead designer will be providing the directions and will oversee the volunteers. It is a really fun experience to help decorate a float and then see the finished product in the parade.
