Volunteers are needed for SciTech Days, an event that is happening November 1-4 (Tuesday-Friday) at Carnegie Science Center. If you’ve never attended SciTech days, the link below can give you more information on what happens:
http://www.scitechfestival.com/
We are looking for either individuals or groups. This is a “Bring a Buddy” event! Your friends are welcome to join you in volunteering for SciTech days. (You will just need to sign a waiver on the day that you come for the event.)
We are looking for people to volunteer as passport stampers at the technology exhibits that will be set up for the event. Volunteers will ask students pre-written questions about that particular exhibitor and then stamp the students’ passports. It’s very easy to do and a lot of fun, too! All volunteers will receive a SciTech T-shirt to wear while volunteering.
You can choose any amount of days to volunteer and the shifts are the following:
• 8:30am – 2:00pm – free breakfast & lunch
• 8:30am – 11:30am
• 11:00am – 2:00pm
Below is general information that you will need to know the day of the event:
Parking:
If you are driving to the Science Center, parking is free. When you pull into the lot you will pull a ticket. Bring your ticket with you to sign-in and you’ll get a ticket to validate your ticket.
Entering the Building:
The shift times run from 8:30-2:00. The Science Center’s main entrance is not open at 8:30, so you will need to enter through the Security entrance on the west side of the building. This is the side of the building that faces Rivers Casino and the West End Bridge. After you go through the gate, drive around the big red SportsWorks building to the other side of the parking lot. From there, you will be able to see the Security entrance. (There are big loading doors and a loading dock there.)
Check In:
Check in is at the SciTech Information Booth on the first floor in the main lobby. After you enter through Security, go through the double doors and follow the ramps up. This will lead you to the main lobby.
Dress Code:
We will be giving you a SciTech T-shirt, so please wear something that you could put the T-shirt over top of. (A long or short sleeve T-shirt would be fine.) Pants need to be a neutral color. We do not allow denim, sweat pants, or stretch pants. Close toed shoes with socks are the final part of the dress code. Tennis shoes are absolutely fine to wear. (We want you to be comfortable!)
Questions: If you have any questions the week of November 1 or need to change your time, please call Eve at 412-889-1740 after 6:30AM.
Thanks for volunteering!
