This will be a full day trip filled with fun! We’ll visit the show and allow plenty of time for shopping. There will be twenty vendors; from California (12), Japan (1), Taiwan (2), Colombia (1), Brazil (2), Peru (1), and Thailand (1). Visit http://www.huntington.org/orchidshow/ for a list of participating vendors and exhibitors. SDCOS is participating with a display, promoting our “Orchids in the Park” shows and our upcoming 2018 Annual Spring Show & Sale, “Orchid Mardi Gras”. We’ll have a docent-led tour of the three off-exhibit greenhouses, housing over 10,000 orchids. This collection includes the famous S. Robert Weltz Paphiliopedium collection. Seventy-two AOS certificates, including five FCCs, have been awarded to plants in the HBG’s collection since 2014. Cost for the bus trip is $40 per person. Admission is free! SDCOS will provide bottled water and snacks for the trip. Lunch options are available at cafes and restaurants on the grounds or pick a nice spot to enjoy a picnic packed at home. There is so much to do and see here! Last year I found a display of a hundred plus gold-leafed orchid flowers tucked in a corner of the show room. These were magnificent! Also, you will have free admission to the grounds of the Huntington Library to explore the museums and various gardens. Non-members are welcome too! Sign-up now before the bus fills up!
