LISA’S POLLINATOR GARDEN IS BEAUTIFUL!!
ADOPT THE GARDEN FOR A WEEK DURING THE SUMMER TO KEEP IT THRIVING
_____________________________________________________________________________________
WHY? We have over 165 plants, more than 80 % of which are native to feed and nature our pollinators as well as teach us about them and enjoy them in the garden.
LOCATION :Lisa’s Pollinator Garden is behind the school on the west side, 170 Sterling Rd, Princeton
TIME NEEDED: It only takes AN HOUR OR TWO PER WEEK to water the garden as needed.
DIRECTIONS for Watering PLANTS:
• There is a spigot on the school wall with a hose and hose rack. It has a ratchet (wrench) to turn the water on. Turn it to the LEFT to TURN the WATER ON. And RIGHT to TURN it OFF
• Unroll all of the hose and give each plant a drink at its roots, avoiding the leaves and taking care not to squash the plants with the hose. Pleases roll the hose back up once you are done
DIRECTIONS FOR SEEDLINGS:
• There are areas marked with tape where seeds are planted, please use a soft spray to water them.
•
HOW MUCH WATER?
For Shrubs: 1-2 inches of water per week
Perennials need about an inch of water per week. If you use a rain gauge, subtract the amount of water in the gauge from the inch. In general, many established perennials can get by with less than this, and newly planted ones may need a bit more, especially in hot weather. Water deep and less frequently to promote long roots. Be sure to aim your hose-end close to the ground, near the base of the plant.
The best time of day is the morning if possible, so the leaves can dry.
