Nourishing Newton is a project facilitated by The Rotary Club of Newton, in partnership with the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber of Commerce. Every week 100 meals will be delivered to 25-30 households. Volunteers will pick up cold, prepared meals from a Newton restaurant and deliver to the distribution list we will send you. There are three roles: Pickup+Delivery, Backup, and Pickup Monitor.
Pickup+Delivery Responsibilities:
1. You will receive your distribution list on Tuesday. Please email Sara at sarapd@wsymca.org to confirm receipt.
2. Text or call recipients on Tuesday or Wednesday to remind of delivery (details will be shared with your distribution list).
3. Pickup meals at assigned restaurant on Thursday at 10:30. PLEASE BRING A COOLER and grocery bags. Volunteers will typically deliver ~10 meals to 2-3 households.
4. Drop off meals at assigned addresses. This is a contact-free delivery. You can knock on the door, call, or text to let the family know you've delivered their food. Volunteers should not enter the home.
5. Email Sara at sarapd@wsymca.org to confirm deliveries when you are done.
Backup Person responsibilities:
1. If a Pickup+Delivery person cancels, the Backup person will perform those responsibilities. This information will be shared as far in advance as possible.
Pickup Monitor Responsibilities:
1. The Pickup Monitor will be given the full list of distribution assignments on Tuesday.
2. Arrive at the restaurant by 10:30 on Thursday.
3. Check-off volunteers as they pick up their meals. Confirm that each volunteer gets the right number of meals.
4. Remind volunteers to email Sara when they have delivered all their meals.
5. Email Sara at sarapd@wsymca.org when all meals have been picked up from the restaurant.
6. A volunteer can sign up to be both the Monitor and a Pickup/Delivery or Backup person.
By signing up for a volunteer slot below, you confirm that you have read through these guidelines and agree with this process.
