Gemma's Angels has been approved as a participant in the Day-End Dough-Nation™ program at Panera Bread which involves the sharing of their unsold bread and bakery products with non-profit groups that address the need for food distribution in our communities. Their location is at 1178 Mae Street, Hummelstown, PA Cafe Phone #717-533-5242. Our Assigned Day is Wednesday evenings with pickup time of 9:2hershey74
0 pm.

- Assigned volunteers can arrive shortly BEFORE they close at 9:30 pm and should knock on the door to get the attention of employees.

- Volunteers must arrive in the bakery-cafe 15 minutes before closing. Bakery-cafe managers are not allowed to unlock the doors for anyone to enter the bakery-cafe after the closing time.

- If volunteers arrive 30 minutes or more after the closing time, the product will no longer be available for him/her to pick up for that particular night.

- If volunteers will be late, or cannot pick up the product on a particular night, the Organization must call the bakery-cafe manager on duty to notify the manager of the situation.

- Donations must be picked-up every week on a continuous basis on the assigned day(s). If three or more assigned weeks are missed, the Organization will be terminated from the program.

- Volunteers are not allowed behind the bakery-cafe counter. Associates will bring the packaged product around to the front. All donations need to be transported outside the bakery-cafe by the volunteers in one trip; the door may only be opened once for security reasons. If donations cannot be carried out in one trip, donations need to be temporarily stacked outside the door.

- Thanks to volunteer Ruth Hansen who did our first pickup, we discovered that the donation is typically five or six large bags. Due to the large size of the donation and the fact that we distribute to multiple locations, we have decided that we will drive our Mobile Farmer's Market to the Panera bakery, load up the various trays there, cover them appropriately and then delivery them the next morning. We will try to get a driver to deliver for the various alternating routes to Lebanon and Dauphin counties.
