Madison Unites to Nourish Children at Home (MUNCH) signup sheet

The River Food Pantry is looking for volunteers for a mobile lunch program, Madison Unites to Nourish Children at Home (MUNCH). This program provides mobile lunch services directly to children and teens within their local neighborhoods, where it is needed and wanted the most. MUNCH bridges the gap that exists when school lunch is not available on weekends and school breaks. MUNCH also eliminates the obstacle of transportation by bringing lunch into the neighborhood.
Location is The River Food Pantry, 2201 Darwin Rd, Madison, WI 53704
The volunteers following the MUNCH van with their personal vehicle to the neighborhoods will be asked to sign a Use of Personal Vehicle Policy and Acknowledgement.
Just because school's out, doesn't mean that lunch is!

Lunch Distribution - Volunteers will meet at The River Food Pantry, assist in loading the MUNCH van with supplies, and carpool together to 8 neighborhoods to distribute lunches to children and their families. Volunteers must be friendly and exhibit leadership qualities. Transportation to and from the pantry is needed, and there is room for one person in the MUNCH van, others will drive in a personal vehicle. Weather appropriate clothing is highly recommended. We need volunteers to be old enough to be able to hold their own and work hard with the team. Parents, you know what your child is capable of. Please call or email if you have any questions about age restrictions for distribution.

Teams of 8-10 can make over 800 lunches in 2.5 hours. Volunteers must arrive for their shift on time, wearing close-toed shoes, long hair tied up and with good personal hygiene. They must be able to follow simple directions and work well in a team. We accept volunteers of all ages, but remember, this is work, everyone signed up will be asked to be an active part of production.

Lunch Production - Join up with other volunteers at The River Food Pantry to prepare hundreds of lunches in a few hours! While most of our volunteers are individuals, we welcome organized groups to help out, such as: Teams from churches, college/community organizations or employees given time off by their companies to do community work.
