This September the CCAP is once again hosting the CT Gran Fondo and is calling out to all the CCAP supporters for help. Our top priority for each of our events is to make sure that all participants have a great day from start to finish and it is only with the help of our many volunteers that we can make that happen. This year we are looking for about 40 volunteers who can assist us in keeping the Gran Fondo a great September event.
The CCAP and all participating riders kindly thank you in advance for you support!
Volunteer Positions:
Course Signers: Friday, September 18th at 12:00 PM we will need nine volunteers, in three teams of three, to pre-drive the Gran Fondo course and mark the roadway with directional paper arrows.
U-Haul Pickup and Bike transport: Volunteers will need to pick up the trucks at 10:00 AM in Hartford. Volunteers will be paired up, 2 people per truck, to make bike loading more efficient. Drivers will load bikes upon arrival of the cyclist at the finish line of the fondo. The drivers will then bring the bikes back to the start location of the Gran Fondo and unload them at the green. Lastly, volunteers will bring the truck back to Hartford at the end of the day. Please contact Evan Kirk is you are interested in this role Evan@ctcyclingadvancement.com .
Course Sign Check Team: On the morning of the ride, 2 people will head out in a car before the riders leave to make sure that none of the signs have been removed.
Registration: The morning of the Ride (Saturday) we are looking for 4 volunteers who can work the rider registration table, signing up unregistered riders and checking in pre-registered riders.
Sag Drivers: Sag Drivers will be responsible for driving along the course throughout the ride and assisting riders that need support. Drivers will be equipped with basic tools and food to assist in basic mechanical trouble and/or physical trouble.
Support Stations: There will be three support stations along the course that riders will be able to stop at to pick up additional food and water. At each support station we would like to have two volunteers who will be stationed under a pop-up tent ready to help out incoming riders.
Ride Marshals: There are ten ride marshal roles that we would like to fill to make sure riders stay on course and can be quickly reached if they have mechanical trouble. Ride Marshals will be participants in the Gran Fondo but will be supplied with basic tools to help other riders in need.
All volunteers (excluding the course signing team) should report to the registration tent, at their scheduled time, where they will receive their volunteer t-shirt, lanyard and meet their team captain.
Additional info:
Each of you will receive additional information, via email, specific to each of your roles, after you have signed up. If you have any questions in the meantime, however, don't hesitate to ask! Evan@ctcyclingadvancement.com
