When: Jan 18-21, 2018 Where: River Bend Golf and Recreation Area in Red Deer Who: Parkland Cross-Country Ski Club/Red Deer Nordics
Working the Start and Finish line puts you in the middle of the action and is very exciting! The work here is also very important - we want to give the racers a positive experience, fair starts and prompt and accurate timing results. All but the computer operator positions are outside jobs and require warm boots, warm clothes, and a thermos. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
There are three categories of volunteers needed:
1) START/FINISH - TIMING positions include: Starter, Assistant Starter, False Start Controller, Finish line referee, Bib Callers, Bib Recorders, Manual Timers, Relief Timers and Exchange Zone Officials. Training and trial run-through will happen each morning before the races start.
2) START/FINISH - SUPPORT positions include: Start Area Marshal, Chip Distribution and Collection, Clothing Steward and Bib Collector.
3) ZONE4 COMPUTER OPERATOR - Results/Timing Support Assistant (2-3 inside jobs) - not complicated, full training provided.
If at all possible, in order to minimize the total number of trained people required, it would be very helpful if you would consider volunteering for more than one day. Food and beverages will be supplied. Thank you for any time you can give.
