This is a new outreach this year for our current clients. We are working with these families to help them work towards self-sufficiency by having them:

To bring families together
To reduce stress
To reduce financial burdens on the parents
To teach children the gift of giving
To continue or create family traditions
To impact the community through meaningful service
To instill life skills that can be applied in everyday life

With this program caseworkers will consult with each participating family to create short-term achievable goals that focus on savings, service and Christmas tradition. Parents will be taught skills like budgeting and planning, invited to create new Christmas traditions, and to teach their children to take as much joy in giving as they do in receiving by getting gifts to their brother(s)/sister(s) through service hours.

Our second party to get these families together and celebrate is December 9th at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish from 10:00-2:00 including set-up and clean up. You will be assisting kids with their family gift requests they had for their siblings and family members and serving refreshments. You can also interact with the adults to see how their plans are coming along.
