EarthFest 2017 signup sheet
All volunteers will receive further information at their site from their site leader. Below is a general and brief description of expected volunteer duties.
DESCRIPTION OF ZERO WASTE ZONE: instruct people as to what they're throwing away is either recyclable or compostable. This is a zero waste event so everything will either be compostable or recyclable- very little if anything will be sent to a landfill.
DESCRIPTION OF LOGISTICS CREW: Volunteers will assist in either setting up, maintenance during, or take down/ clean-up of festival depending on which shift you sign up for.
DESCRIPTION OF YOUTH AREA: Volunteers will be working directly with children at EarthFest to create recycled crafts or run environmental-focused activities. They will be able to select their station when they arrive (first come first serve) and will be trained on the specifics of their craft or activity. This is a high energy volunteer position, and so much fun!
DESCRIPTION OF SCAVENGER HUNT: Engage with participants of the scavenger hunt educating them of certain info related to whichever scavenger hunt "hotspot" you are placed in. You may also sign up to work the Scavenger Hunt tent where you will assist participants as they begin and end the scavenger hunt, etc.
DESCRIPTION OF ENVIROCHARACTERS: Assume the roles of the Environmental Characters ( i.e., the Tree, Mushroom, Beehive, Flower, Monarch, & Trash Monster) and will need to learn a very brief educational message to convey to the attendees.
DESCRIPTION OF KNOX COUNTY WATER QUALITY BOOTH: Knox County Storm Water Office will be a participating vendor at the event. They are seeking assistance with their demonstration of a rain water simulator. They request volunteers who have interest in water quality and general knowledge of storm water runoff. You will be assisting them at their tent for your shift. More details given upon arrival or you may contact the sign up sheet manager for more details as well.
DESCRIPTION OF STANDBY SHIFT: This shift is reserved for when all allotted volunteer spots are full but you'd like to be put on the list of volunteers to be alerted if volunteer opportunities arise. There is always the likely chance that volunteers who signed up for a shift are unable to make it and therefore we would need to fill their spot. This event would not be possible if it weren't for our volunteers so having awesome people to contact in case that situation were to arise is vital! Please only begin to sign up for this shift once all allotted spots are marked as FULL. You may always contact the sign up sheet manager with questions. Thank you!
