2019 CHOICES Conference - Science Activity Volunteers signup sheet

PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION

WISEST welcomes all U of A students, staff and faculty to come and help us inspire grade 6 girls with a love for science, engineering, technology and math! Science Activity Volunteers deliver activities on both days of the conference (Tuesday, February 19 and Wednesday, February 20, 2019). We run each activity twice a day, for a total of 4 times over the course of the Conference. WISEST can supply you with a tried and true activity or work with you to develop a new one! Please see the following Science Activity Volunteer descriptions:

CHEMISTRY ACTIVITY LEADERS/ SAFETY COORDINATORS
With this dual role, you will need to deliver the chemistry activity and ensure that all safety protocols are being followed.Chemistry Activity Leaders/ Safety Coordinators are responsible for reviewing their lab procedure, requesting any required materials from WISEST, and leading the activity during both the morning and afternoon activity sessions on each day of the Conference.These individuals should be experienced with Chemistry Labs and be comfortable taking control in case of a spill.
--> Who should sign up: Chemistry Masters or PhD Students, researchers, faculty members, lab assistants, or lab coordinators with access to the undergraduate general chemistry labs
--> Time commitment: Volunteers can expect to commit to several hours of lab planning and preparation and are expected to complete Online Safety Training and a lab test-run prior to the Conference. Science Activity Leaders will need to be present from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm on the Conference days.

All volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch! We will send out another form to all registered volunteers closer to the conference.
