The 10th Annual Duck Jazz Festival, presented by PNC, takes place on Columbus Day Weekend annually in October. In 2016 to celebrate our 10th Annual year, we are adding a community Concert on the Green on Saturday, October 8 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed for both Saturday, and for Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the Duck Town Park (1200 Duck Road). The festival on Sunday begins with gates opening at 10:00 a.m., and live music at 11:00 a.m. We are currently seeking volunteers for the following areas. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR A JAZZ FESTIVAL VOLUNTEER MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 5 AT 9:30 A.M. IN THE DUCK TOWN MEETING HALL. WE WILL DISTRIBUTE T-SHIRTS, QUICKLY REVIEW ASSIGNMENTS, AND ANSWER QUESTIONS.
VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTIONS:
CONCERT Set-up/Break-down Parking: Similar to a Concert on the Green in the summer, this event will have volunteers assist with sign placement, parking and general set-up and take down of recycle and trash bins, merchandise area etc.
MERCHANDISE SALES: Similar to the summer concerts, however with jazz merchandise.
SPONSOR Welcome & Check-In: There will be a special Sponsor Area at the Saturday evening concert. Volunteers in this area will assist with greeting sponsors, and provide assistance to town staff during event.
PARKING: Three parking lots: the main lot, north public lot, and volunteer lot (at PNC). Main lot is reserved for handicapped until full, band parking, and OAR rentals. Assist with parking, monitor open spaces, and notify entering cars when lot is full.
GATE ENTRANCE: Responsible for guarding access to park before gates open at 10 a.m. Greet festival goers as they come in; hand out Jazz Festival brochures; help track attendance with handheld counters; distribute surveys.
CONCESSIONS: Responsible for sales of soft drinks and bottled water & providing information.
GROUNDS: Responsible for ongoing maintenance of trash & recycling, and ensuring Concessions are fully stocked with ice and drinks.
SECURITY: Main stage -- Responsible for overseeing access to the backstage and restricted band parking areas. Amphitheater -- Responsible for overseeing access to the Amphitheater stage between acts.
MERCHANDISE: Responsible for sales of town and band merchandise.
