We are loving classes at the Spring Creek Opera House & will continue classes there until the spring. Classes will run every Wednesday evening from 7- 8 PM. We will have access to the space at 645 and then do a quick sweep after class & put away spare mats and be out by 815 PM.
As the volunteer teacher you are expected to teach a class appropriate for beginners. Please keep in mind, for most people this is their first yoga experience - yogis tend to go to yoga studios. From building up classes like this in the past, by focusing on the physical body (alignment & the connection to breath) - you are more likely to engage & encourage students to come back - rather than focusing on spirituality. The Bow Valley is a very physical community - and your role as the community yoga instructor is to help them create a little more balance. We want to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome. A CYAN representative will help with sign-ins & waivers, you are just required to show up and teach.
There are speakers to use that can connect via audio jack if you choose to use music, and wifi is available. We can also provide music if needed - the space can get a little noisy so I enjoy having ambient noise during class. When marketing your class - please mention that this class is put on by CYAN (pronounced sigh-anne) and that its for the community - everyone is welcome to join in!
If you sign up and are no longer able to commit to your class, you are responsible for finding a suitable replacement.
